Are you out of ideas for dessert items when it comes to entertaining guests at home? Then let me suggest you try Tiramisu. It’s a delicious Italian dessert that is popular around the world. It’s easy to make and your guests will love it. It is made of tasty ingredients and have exquisite flavors. The blend of espresso, mascarpone cheese, cocoa and whipped cream layered with ladyfinger biscuits is just awesome.

The first thing you need for Tiramisu is ladyfingers. These are slightly sweet and light sponge cake biscuits. Many people substitute ladyfinger with Marie biscuit, but in that case, you will be compromising with the taste. When you dunk it in coffee, it softens that will later help in blending with the cheese. Many people also bake cake instead of using ladyfinger, but in that case the cooking time will be much longer. You can get ladyfinger at Mahmud Mart and a few other stores in Dhaka.

To make Tiramisu, first you need to add 150ml of hot water to 2 tbsp of coffee beans or ground coffee. Let it cool and then dunk ladyfinger one by one and place it on your serving dish. On top of the layer of softened ladyfinger , you should put a layer of 200 gm of whipping cream and 250 gma of mascarpone cheese beaten together half cup of sugar and 1 tsp of vanilla essence. You may not get mascarpone cheese in many places and you can in that case you can easily replace it with Philadelphia cream cheese. At the end you can sprinkle some coco powder on top to get the chocolate flavor.

You should refrigerate it for at least 4 to 6 hours or overnight to give time for the ingredients to blend so that you get a rich taste. You can serve Tiramisu in different ways. You can place them on a rectangular dish or put them in one-time transparent cups so that the layers are visible. The contrast of white and coffee color looks brilliant.

You can make variations of Tiramisu; for example, you can dunk the ladyfinger in chocolate instead of espresso. You can add a layer of fruits if you want to. You can also put a layer of ice cream or yogurt. There are different recipes of Tiramisu in YouTube and cooking blogs. You can try some of them at home and then find out which recipe you like the most.

‘Tiramisu’ in Italian means ‘pick me up’ and there is no doubt that the name is completely justified. It will be loved by people of all ages. Next time you invite your friends to your house, make sure you have Tiramisu on your table.
